Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to earn a Black Belt?

A: At Jin Pal Hapkido, our main focus is to provide each student with the highest quality of Hapkido instruction and not to just hand out belts. With that in mind, everybody progresses at different rates depending on ability, experience and level of commitment to training. Some students have earned their black belt in a year and some have taken five years or more. In each class along the way you will learn skills that are dynamic, effective and fun.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: We offer several different programs to fit every need and interest. Whether you’re just interested in learning some self-defense while getting in shape or you’re interested in becoming a future instructor, we have a program for you. However, you wouldn’t make a major purchase without first taking a look at the quality of the product and this is no exception. Please visit one of our Jin Pal Hapkido Studios and try out a class for yourself.

Q: How is Jin Pal Hapkido different from other martial arts?

A: Every martial art has its benefits and offer something different depending on the individual’s interests. Some martial arts, like Taekwondo, focus on kicking and striking techniques with an emphasis on tournament sparring. Other martial arts, like Judo and Jujitsu, focus on throwing and grappling techniques also often with an emphasis on competitions. Then there are arts, like Kung Fu, that teach very dynamic forms and weapons training. Most of us know about Boxing and Kickboxing, which can be very effective fighting arts. There are even hybrid martial arts, like Tae Bo, that incorporate elements of the martial arts into an aerobic work-out.

The beauty of Jin Pal Hapkido is that it is a very comprehensive martial art
that can adapt itself to the individual depending on the person’s interests and abilities. We practice a wide range of self-defense techniques that can be effective in multiple situations. For example, we practice techniques for attacks from grabs, punches, kicks, weapons and even multiple attackers. There are also many strikes and kicks, including high kicks and flying kicks as well as low kicks and sweep kicks. Our classes are fast paced and offer a great way to get in shape and stay that way. Of course, the biggest benefit of Jin Pal Hapkido is the highly qualified masters and instructors who will be guiding you along the way.

Q: Who can study Jin Pal Hapkido?

A: We believe that Hapkido training can benefit everybody, young and old. We accept students starting at 5 years old. And remember, you’re never too old to begin learning Hapkido. Because Hapkido adapts to your strengths and improves on your weaknesses, there is absolutely no prerequisite necessary to start your training. All it takes is a willingness to learn and a commitment to practice.
